As product managers we are so passionate about our products that we might find it challenging to truly listen to our stakeholders, team mates and customers at times – especially when they are telling us something we do not want to hear.
Many of us love to think about ourselves as good listeners, but are we really able to suspend our own needs for a while to show true empathy in a difficult conversation? Are we able to put aside our prejudices, biases and defensiveness? In this session, we will explore how responsive listening can help us establish deep and meaningful relationships in product management (and life). We are going to assess our current listening skills, learn about typical obstacles to good listening and practice how to overcome them in different situations. To make sure we get a good laugh, too, we are going to even include some improv theatre into our session as well.
