Identity Myths and Where to Find Them
Identity and Access Management, or more simply “identity” has evolved over the course of at least two decades. While identity used to refer to people, specifically internal users, today’s definition of identity expands on the internal use case to cover external consumers, businesses, partners, and even objects in the case of IoT. During this evolution, those with a stake in identity formed and promoted ideas for how it should be implemented and consumed, and the sum of these ideas has become unofficial identity best practice — but is it the best playbook for the future?
This session will discuss many of the core identity beliefs and question their relevance today. We’ll summarise each belief with historical context and explore whether it’s really a best practice or simply a myth perpetuated over time.
