At Spotify we believe in an inclusive culture where everyone feels empowered to share their full selves, where everyone feels like they belong. (see https://www.spotifyjobs.com/the-band-manifesto/)
When I was asked to join the Diversity and Belonging group in our mission, I was super-excited and without hesitation I chose the Inclusive leadership track. This was a great opportunity to contribute to this important topic and make Spotify a better organisation.
My teammates and I discussed the possibilities (Inclusive leadership toolkit, gamification, workshops) as well as limitations that leaders have (lack of time, too much information, hard to know where to start).
We started to put Inclusive leadership toolkit together, but as a Product Manager I was struggling until one day I decided to try and apply Product Management principles to the work that I was doing.
What happened next can be described by:
Ideation – Reducing the scope – Prototyping – MVP 1.0 – User testing – Changing scope – MVP 2.0 – User testing – Going live – Feedback – back to Ideation
Looks familiar, right?
During the presentation I will go through the different stages of the process that I have described and I will outline how Product Management principles helped me and my team to treat leadership as a product and help leaders in the organisation to grow with our help.
