Overcoming Cognitive Biases (Product Managers are people, too!) by Ken Sandy, Lecturer/Industry Fellow at UC Berkeley, ex-VP of Product @ Masterclass and Lynda.com

How to recognize and avoid the many belief, behavioral, and social biases, which flaw much human decision making, in your role as product manager. In particular, authority bias, reputation risk, and survivor bias are rife in decision making and during customer and product validation. This talk will include emerging results from original research into this largely unaddressed area, case studies and practical tips to use right away.

Key Takeaways

1. Structure how incoming stakeholder and customer requests are prioritized and balanced alongside everything else.

2. Identify and explicitly seek out those under-represented in your analysis and research.

3. Encourage a psychologically-safe environment – hypothesis-led learning, calculated risk taking and celebration.

Zoom, Tuesday July 7, 12 PM CEST, 6 PM SGT/ MYT
