Aly Blenkin

Senior Product Designer

Aly is a Senior Product Designer at Pivotal in London and Pivotal Act co-lead, a new division dedicated to building technology that address social, humanitarian and environmental issues. Prior to Pivotal Labs, she worked at ThoughtWorks in NYC and Toronto, and in academia. She has worked on projects in various areas such as; sanitation design in refugee camps, rapid onset emergency planning, access to education for undocumented people, health care, food systems, access to education for undocumented people and renewable energy. Aly holds her masters in Transdisciplinary Design from Parsons in New York. She won a Rockefeller grant and was a finalist for the Fast Company Innovation awards during that time. She also has bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design from the University of Alberta and in Service Design at the Köln International School of Design in Germany.

Aly has recently spoken at Interaction 18 about her work involving systemic issues around sanitation design in refugee camps and climate change resilience. She also spoke about ‘The Dark Side of Innovation’ at IxDA and at TEDxFullhamWomen about ‘Making Time for the Environment.’
