How to make decisions that stick

We've all experienced it: Decisions once made are changed again and again. We seem to be going in circles for weeks if not months, until someone gets impatient and we implement something that's not necessarily the best option. How can we avoid that? This talk presents a simple framework to make decisions that stick and that don't repeatedly get challenged again.

When making major decisions, create a color-coded "options table", comparing alternatives along relevant dimensions.Show your work, options explored, and assessments along different dimensions. Explain why you picked the preferred option. Don't hide this from leadership and stakeholders, to make it easier for them to understand and contribute. Clarify whether relevant dimensions, possible options, or assessments of options on a specific dimension are being discussed.

When circumstances change, don't start from scratch, update the relevant dimensions and reassess the overall choice. If you change the approach, help everyone understand why.
