PMs are like Onions - The Growth Journey that is Career in Product Management

Product Managers are like onions. Not in the sense that if you leave them in the car they start to smell. They have layers, and those layers are the different skills PMs need to develop in their career journey to become a well-rounded, successful Ogre. erm, PM.While every PM is different, and the context in which a PM develops their career will largely dictate which skills they develop first, I would argue that many will converge to a well rounded PM with a certain set of skills they acquire through their career. I will explore a few career paths that show different ways to acquire and apply those skills, and when we often stop using a skill as the content changes, it is still there, a deeper layer that supports the overall structure.I will share examples from my personal career, and also bring examples from other PMs that took different paths. This is an interactive talk, as learning from each other is often the best way to grow
